DIVA

'na na na, Diva is the female version of a hustler' is what this exhibition was giving!!! Bruh, I genuinely got emotional at some point because of the level of work, dedication, and sacrifice that has gone into honing these women's gifts & talents??? is truly next level. From the moment we stepped through those navy curtains and the operatic music began playing, I knew we were in for a journey.

The exhibition spanned from the 19th-century divas - taking us back to how the concept of a 'diva' was originated and explored how it has evolved over the years. From it becoming somewhat of a derogatory term along the way to it now being reclaimed as a mark of depth in one's artistry, there's never been a better time to be considered a DIVA.

I thoroughly enjoyed this exhibition, like thoroughlyyyyyy. It taught me that God is so gracious in bestowing us with a range of gifts and talents and reminded me of my ultimate goal in life to ensure He takes the glory through my expression of mine.

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT

I went with my amazing friend, Ellie. We met at uni and have experienced living in a new country together and have also been roommates! She has always inspired me for how bold she is and with her endless list of talents and how dedicated she's always been, I'm pretty sure in a few years she'll be a woman who’ll be honoured and celebrated in unique ways!

I'm so grateful for experiences like this, that leave me feeling so incredibly inspired.

It was a really hot day in London and so I was so thankful that there were fans positioned at various spots throughout the exhibition. That helped not just me as a warrior but pretty much everybody because that heat was heatingggg. I prefer fans to air conditioners because the air feels a bit more natural and I never find myself feeling too cold; the temperature feels just right with fans. I made sure I brought a bottle of water so I'd stay hydrated and there wasn't too much walking involved! I'd been to see a different exhibition at the same location so I kinda knew what to expect which helped.

There were only two seating options, which I think could be improved especially as there was a lot of video-based content where one or two seats could have been placed. But other than that, it wasn't bad mobility-wise and I guess I was too excited to even feel tired! And so my mobility rating would be a 6/10.

‘DIVA’ is showing at V&A from now till 10th April 2024.
